Picture of Princess Dressed Up

Princess, by Denny Lancaster 290130

Princess a pure Persian very small,
careful now, please do not fall;
Delicately balance on every delight,
scamper now, completely out of sight.

Throughout our home, roamed with glee
next to find you, in the frig you'll be;
Eating an olive, opened the cap,
poor ole man was given a bum rap.

Our first dog you greeted with charm,
you jumped on her back, gave us alarm;
But Heather just licked you as if to say,
together with humans we will have sway.

Soon Heather gave birth to fur children too
immediately into the whelping box you flew;
More litters came, we always kept a few,
Shetland Sheep dogs you always knew.

So when you became both deaf and blind,
when in the home we could not find;
Just ask one of the Shelties where are you,
our shelties always numbered more than two.

A sheltie always herded you into our fold,
after warnings about roaming you were told;
Six shelties barked and howled to get inside,
the day you died all six laid down at your side.

Fur children at Rainbow Ridge give them charm,
our departed Shelties will keep you from harm;
But we humans know you will scamper in glee,
and in our home and hearts all we will see.

Footnote: Princess, July 13, 1987-January 29, 2009.  Nanna loves to dress up our fur children, but they were, often not willing to say the least.
