Mere Chance and Faerie Child

Midi: WALTZING MATILDA.
You dear reader, from this ditty,
a discourse written as you glance,
might be dull, might be witty,
but it arose from mere chance.
Near a certain Lady's enclosure,
not far from her home down under,
a horse with certain composure,
was passing toward home by chance.
As he went along sniffing and prying,
with somber determined advance,
a shepherd's flute there was lying,
he had found it there by chance.
Horse eyed the flute tis reported,
bent down to eye it closer,
drew near and then he snorted,
upon this flute laying there by chance.
The breath of the horse into the flute,
drew music pleasing to Linda's ear,
as only breath can from a brute,
and blew the flute laying by chance.
"Eeekk!" cried he, in all his horse wonder,
"How comes this music which doth pass,
and who will now dare to slander,
me who has the skill of my kin the ass?
Could be said of asses around in plenty,
that we all see them at a mere glance,
who, at the odds of one time in twenty,
succeed by mere chance.

Midi Selection: Even as a little boy growing up in the deep south, when Waltzing Matilda was heard, tears came to my wee eyes. As a teenager and upon learning of
the background of this composition, there was an understanding of why the tears. Background for the midi may be found here..
Poetry Selection: Mere chance is one of those poems which is just that: mere chance. Having developed a bond of friendship with two Aussie friends on the internet,
Stu Mackenzie and Linda Ferricks, this writer could not resist developing a poem which depicted a mystical side of Australia.
Honors: This writer is a regular contributor to WebTech Internet Angels monthly poetry contest. Always an abundance of delightful poetry and a visit you may visit
for help in building web sites, graphics, fellowship and family safe topics of interest. Our poem Mere Chance was the August selection and would not have been written, nor have been presented
an award, had it not been for knowing, loving and admiring Stu and Linda. Visit WebTech Internet Angels..

Faerie Child.

220917
Spirit Faeries gathered to sing,
of joy and thoughts children bring,
into the minds of those on earth,
kindled hope for our humble worth.
Held as folly by grownups for years,
in Faerieland flowed our wee tears,
those darkest hours fed the fear,
as Faerieland's end time grew near.
Then a knock happened at our door,
with a reminder we'd be lost no more,
for in the hearts of children store,
happy Faerie folk they don't abhor.
Now books and song remind them of us,
in simple messages children may trust,
journeys and adventures guiding light,
glowing stars and Lancelot the knight.
When you see a child reading in bed,
may it of the book provider be said,
she or he of Faeries have also read,
rather than doubt, believe instead.
Authors Footnotes:
This poem was written shortly after the death of our grand daughter, Isabella Rose Lancaster, really out of a deep feeling that belief is really the only thing we mere
mortals have to hold us together. Especially after a deep tragedy.
We are pleased that it earned TSF Faerie Choice Award For The Loudest Cheer on 220915.
