When the poem Aware written by L. M. Ferricks was first read on her web site Wordsflow, we asked for permission to publish her poem and a background for the poem.

"I spend a certain amount of time each day visiting sites and reading their stories, and find that I have many kindred spirits out there , that share all the inner turmoil that is and adult survivor of child abuse and domestic violence. one such site that I visited last year in June, Rachel Moore's story was heart wrenching in the total futility that I felt when I visited, the facts culminating in first her murder, and then twelve months later the suicide of her 12yr old son, was more than I could bear....when I began to write a message of support for her family in her Guest Book, this poem flowed, I think that we all must know that there is choice if enough people understand.

 Aware is my tribute to not only those who have died but also those that have survived, in the hope that they will help others to survive as well." Quote by L. M. Ferricks.

The life we see
It cannot be
to those that are free
of this destiny.

We hold our head
not wilting instead
our blood is red
but we are not dead

We have survived
it cannot be denied
so often we have sighed
for those who have died

We will fight
for what is right
and to show God's might
to help our plight

"cos" we survive
and we will strive
to keep alive
the awareness drive.

Now to ponder where do words go,
if in fact Tis true - Wordsflow;
Off to D'Wild West fighters home,
where we found flow no "glome."

Within the author spun the word,
round and round, so everyone heard;
The flow and glow washed away tears,
tore at our fabric, dispelled fears.

Now back for a daily visit to learn,
in our heart the authors words turn,
and in our soul her authorship burns.
