I Wonder

Penny Parker, artist

We hold closely to our hearts those authors who have created characters that are as evident to us as if they lived in our presences. Such created characters are much more real than historical characters. For instance, if historical and fictional characters were made flesh, and walked about in latter day dress, would it be easier to recognize Tom Sawyer than young Aaron Burr?

During any year hundreds of poems are received and exchanged. Our selection of "I Wonder" is universal. That is to say, the subject of the authors poem could be either you dear reader or someone whom you know. Notice how the author expertly weaves poetic form with an occurrence from her daily activities. Perhaps upon reading we will learn the importance of a random act of kindness.

Is the subject of the poem real or fictional? That depends in part upon whether you have either written or received something special out of the blue sky. Thank you Michelle for permission to publish your wonderful poem.

I Wonder, by Michelle Copyright 220101

It starts as an ordinary day,
And in an ordinary way -
The start of a daily routine.
But something shifts,
When the very next click
Reveals this time you've been seen.

Inside the note
A poem he wrote
With words so beautiful and uplifting,
The ordinary day
Is no longer the same
Because of a special gift that's been given.

I pause and ponder,
Does he know the wonder
Of the joys his messages yield?
Or perhaps, very tragic,
They are taken for granted
And the joys of his words concealed.

Still, I picture him writing
His words so inviting
With great Spirit as his inspiration.
As his fingers dance on the keys,
His magic he brings to be
To make every day a special occasion.

From something so seemingly small
His kind gestures has caused
Many smiles countless and without end.
The act forever remembered
From the legend and treasure
Of an "Ancient Faerie" and dear friend.

Penny Parker.
