11-Introduction

Word power is mastery of an unfamiliar word, proper spelling, defining the word.

Next we check an authorative source like a dictionary, encyclopedia or simply ask someone, like Nanna.

After all our hard work we use our new found friend, "little word" in a sentence. Then our "little word" becomes a "big word", well sorta!

Sentences become paragraphs, a page or part of a page, several pages. Then a "small book" or a "big book."
22-Small Books

Small books are known by several names. Like chap books or little books or pocket books. Penny books too! To mention but a few.

All of these "small books" have commonality. These books were originally small enough to fit in a pocket. Usually less than a dozen or so pages. Oh the illustrations, they appealed to a child or the child within each of us. The paper was usually not of high quality, but the book jackets.

Some had dust jackets.
3 3-Penny Book

After reading a few short pages, you possibly have several "small words." So would you like to create a "big word" and turn it into a Penny Book using what we have learned so far? Feel free to use this book format. The CSS too. Create your own dust jacket or book cover.

Oh I know you have a new friend, a "small word" of your own. Well turn it into a "big word."

Just let your imagination fly. Your mind soar and with a pen in hand enlighten all of us.

4 4-Why, What and When

All of the "small books" had origins much earlier than our modern period. In a period when children were just talked or preached to like "little adults." But "little books" ignited imagination.

Regular books were very expensive and in short supply. But any one could purchase a "penny book." If not then these "small books" were shared. Children helping children. Lovely, simply lovely.

But there is another "small book" which a large number of good "children" created. The ABC Book of Award Givers. A collection of "little words."
5 The End

If you create your own "Penny Book" please let me know. We can add a citations page. Who knows we may end up demonstrating to budding web site authors why we are hobbyists.

Having fun and lending a helping hand. To create web sites which are worthy of a web site award.

I hope that you have enjoyed this little demonstration, all done with CSS.
