A web site creation brings out the artist, author, and life experiences in all of us. While we all strive to create eye popping web sites, full of the latest and greatest, continually surf the net for new additions, and generally are not pleased with our creations, you will touch the heart of a visitor or an award presenter - hence your first award. Hopefully many more will be presented over the months which follow. However, the reason for a particular award will possibly loose its significance. Therefore we trust you will find the following information helpful.
Vanity or Pride? How many web sites have you seen which place their awards in an award section, with scant reference to anything about the award itself or the award presenter? In this area we do not hesitate to venture where Angels fear to tread. An indication of vanity is to display an award and little or nothing else. Where there is a clear notation of the reason for the award presentation and information about the presenter, pride shows through loud and clear.
Have you exerted an effort? Some awards are presented for those who are willing to accept criticism, make the necessary improvements or corrections, and in the process learn something of value. An outstanding example of an award presenter who will make you "work" for your award is Mr. Burton Neal Levy - the creator of the Blue Ribbon Award. This award was available to all, but earned by few and may result in no award at all, but fun and excitement of a true learning experience made the effort worthwhile.
How do awards find you? As a recipient of the Boy Scouts of America's Silver Beaver award, I am reminded of this statement. "You do not seek the Silver Beaver, it seeks you." This is also the case with awards which you will treasure for years. Signing guest books, adding a truthful e-mail when a site which has been visited strikes you are being informative and useful, telling your friends about a site, and writing an article about a site for web publication - are random acts of kindness which cause award presenters to find you.
How do you find awards? With the proliferation of web sites in recent years, also comes a significant increase in the number of awards being available. Trusted sources are therefore a must. Of course you do not need to look any further than WebTech.
Build a community? A community is a group of citizens, usually of dissimilar interests. On the web, one of our objectives is to build a community of similar interests.
