Anime's November, 2001 TSF event was a Shitajiki hunt. While The Faerie Keeper did not find all of the hidden Shitajiki, the hunt was fun and informative.
Standard shitajiki sell as office supply items for 100 to 250 yen in Japan, or sometimes are included as freebies in issues of various comics. Merchandised shitajiki will sell from 200 yen to about 350 yen each. In very rare circumstances they will sell for 400. Prices usually vary per company. A4 size (larger than the normal 'B5' size) have sold for 700 yen, but this type is not commonly sold. What makes them collectible?
There is also a huge back catalogue of shitajiki with images related to anime and manga, since the teens who use them most frequently with their school notebooks are also the biggest anime and manga fans of many series. There are images for everyone who likes anime, from Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragonball to Ayashi no Ceres, Rayearth, girl game images, kid's writing training, video games and obscure shoujo manga.
