Freshwater Ecoregions of the World (FEOW) fills a vital need for implementation of large scale conservation efforts world wide. Here to fore only the largest river basins were the subject of biogeographic patterns or comprehensive synthesized data.
The freshwater Ecoregions map roughly corresponds to distinct sources of representative networks. The FEOW map is clickable. You can zoom in or out and find a very good description of major habitat type, boundaries, drainages flowing into, main rivers or other water bodies, topography, climate, freshwater habitats, terrestrial habitats, fish and fauna, description of endemic fishes, other noteworthy aquatic biotic element, ecological phenomena and references and sources for additional teaching and learning.
