Now in its eighth year online, A History of Fly Fishing has become the largest reference source on the internet for the sport of fly fishing.
Eleven nominations were received, all of which were not only impressed with the quality of the writing and the illustrations, but did not previously fly fish and were drawn to the sport after many visits to the web site. One such nomination reads in part, below.
"After the death of my mother in 2004, I moved to a city distant from my father. The Christmas after I moved a friend recommended a History of Fly Fishing, by Dr. Andrew N. Herd so I purchased two copies and sent one to my father for Christmas. Our mutual love of fishing, turned to fly fishing shortly there after and we have enjoyed countless fly fishing trips together since 2004..."
