Genetics is a term we have been exposed to in recent years. So when an AA mentor discussed at a local meeting how our brain is altered by the use of drugs and alcohol, she ended this mind searing lecture enhanced with graphic pictures, with a requirement that each of us present at a future meeting, our own versions of what she had discussed. I began an internet search, compiled a list of bookmark references and settled on what I had found at Genetic Science Learning Center, as a basis for my discussion. Because this is such an informative and understandable source, I would like to recommend the website for your website award. Below two bullet points, but please make a visit yourself and be pleasantly surprised.
1. The New Science of Addiction: Genetics and the Brain, which is one of the in-depth presentations, certainly supports everything our mentor told us. The rewards pathway of the brain is a slide presentation. I built my own neuron pathway with Doctor Dendristein, made my own choices, rather than having those choices made for me and could immediately see the difference.
2. Bio bits In Depth: The Genetics of Perception is just one of the pod casts and certainly gave me a greater understanding of how and why, those of us in the group understood things differently in the lecture on how our brains are altered.
