There is a monster which dwells within the United States of America, where 250,000 to 350,000 Americans have multiple sclerosis (MS) and 10,000 newly diagnosed cases every year. It affects women more than men and symptoms often appear between the age of 20-40. It is estimated that 20% have benign multiple sclerosis with no disability.

Hardly the affliction which would bring out the very best in the victim, caregiver, friend or associate. But writings with such power and emotion flow daily into Ms MuSings and Carolyn Reynolds carefully compiles stories, poetry and other information written for and by those with MS.

I was singularly impressed with the quality and diverse writings and that monthly publications were started in September 1999 and now are in their 104th edition when I visited to make this nomination.

Lastly, all of the writings serve as a daily source of inspiration, not pity.
