The mission statement of NewsLab is to provide an online resource center focused on improving journalism. The executive director, Deborah Potter also provides workshops around the country.
Multimedia resources included in the Newslab videos provide a comparative approach to what works best and why, which serve to transform what is currently being practiced. While particular attention is placed upon television, the resources, strategies and articles should be applied not only to news but to any method of communication.
As this laudation was being written, I had a picture in my mind about my own television surfing, then finding something which engaged my thought process, stopping and eventually finding a semi permanent source of news, which also was the norm when surfing the world wide web, listening to an oral presentation or listening to a colleague speak.
Yes there is something for everyone in Newslab and a very welcome breath of fresh air in today's proliferation of television channels and sources of reliable and accurate information on the world wide web.
