Screen shot-Antietam on the Web

This is a very good web site. The site brings the Battle of Antietam (September 17, 1862) to the viewer with maps and writings of the participants. These are the strong points of the site. The maps show the action throughout the day. Each map shows where units engaged on that part of the battlefield were at a particular moment. The viewer can click on any unit to find out more on it. Such information as unit commander, number of soldiers, and if artillery, types of guns. The only problem with the battlefield maps is that there is no motion used. Other battle sites have maps that show units moving across the battlefield. This site does not have anything like that. The greatest part of this site is the section called OR. These are the reports of various commanders and officers. The reports cover the actions before the battle to the end. Here viewers can get a sense of what was happening. Also the site has also has several articles on the battle such as why it was significant. Overall this is one of the best sites I have seen on a battle.
